Sunday 17 October. Day two of the holy waters of the Tolmin clubs .
Today I ask my new fishing buddy Hartmut (and colleague for 10 years).
Hartmut comes from Palo Alto, California, but was born once upon a time in Germany. He was of retirement age with the Fly fishing and started doing very well: 10 hours fishing in the rain, 5 degrees below zero and no bite, and the motivation will remain until the end. Compliment! I only say "... fishing with da Minista ..." 
Today we start at the Idrica and Baca, but can see almost no fish. There are hardly any there, there are mainly grayling and swarms of top spots of only 1-2 large fish. Small missing almost completely. Bogner and the rain are also very rare in comparison to 2009. So we can finally find a few smart bridge trout ("highly-educated") who do not want to be caught. Besides us has probably never caught someone on the ... 
Get out of the Idrijca, on the last run before the gorges below the Baca-junction. Here are two big grayling can be seen, but not collected. Actually, should such a top spot, which is still extremely difficult to achieve at least 20 different size grayling (and for weeks because of flood was not fished) should be, plus a number of Rainbows. The high-water days in the summer, however, most of the fish washed away. So far, so we are still without a fish ... 
fishless, but still very motivated move, we then continue to the Soca a few km downstream from Bovec. Yeah, Soca, finally to fish at low water there. It's still raining in freezing cold wind, but the clouds have lifted themselves. It can be seen from about 1300 new snow on the mountains. The Soca is falling despite all the rain still clear and the water level on. For us, the water is clear, for the locals "cloudy" because from 3m depth no longer see the reason ... Well, we are satisfied.
We start on a long flat run a pool (left) to fish. Normally you should see in such a place masses of mullet, it was not fished for 2 months. After a long search, I find one ... We have a Thymallus then at rest and seek other Pool.
In a confined pool (bluff) below the flow of the Učja but then I find some big Rainbows. From the other side (slip face) fish four Italians, but I can see from my high shore, that there where no fish their flies are staying. Ciao! But with me they are .... The conclusion of the two days : Hotel Zlata Ribica of Mattei Idrija pri Bači is great, right on the river, fully set with Fischer. The owner of fishing itself, gives tips on selling tickets catchy, in the evening, the fire is burning, etc. .. We have per day 62 € for a single room paid for half board, with a river view from the room. Clear Recommended if you like a little luxury. Degrees in the rain and cold bad!
The fishing was much more difficult than in 2009. Where 2009 already 10 fish or more per day were possible, one is already happy if you catch anything at all. At our hotel about 12 were fly fishermen, many of which have tailored especially on day 2. Also noticeable is the lack of small fish, especially mullet, by the floods. Since 2011/12 still large gaps in the grayling stock will be. The rain archers will be provided safe again by massive stocking for a high density of fish, but you have to fish for the stocking of the Soca? It is also closer ... My advice: at least 2011, the Soca times you leave them alone and fish somewhere else.
